A CONSTANT FLOW OF NEW STUDENTS TO KEEP SCHEDULES AS FULL AS POSSIBLE

Over the course of the year, students can move or quit. This can leave a teacher with gaps or holes in their schedule. At our schools we spend a lot of money on advertising and marketing year-round to keep our teachers' schedules as full as possible. We spend $100,000+ each year on marketing and advertising in newspapers, yellow pages, direct mail, community publications, Internet and other media to constantly attract new students. We are continually registering new students for our private music lessons even during typically slower registration months like June and July.

UNLIKE internet referral services, it is in our best interest to keep your schedule full!  With the other guys, they want as many teachers as possible in as many places as possible.  They don't care if you only have 2 students.  We have to pay for studios and it costs money to hire and manage employees.  Therefore we want you to have a full schedule and succeed as a music teacher! It is far easier to support one teacher with a full schedule than it is to support 15 teachers with a couple students each.

The majority of our teachers' schedules are 80-95% full

EXTRAS ARE TAKEN CARE OF - YOUR ONLY RESPONSIBILITY IS TO TEACH

Customer service personnel handle all of the details. From scheduling to collecting fees or arranging concerts and camps. These details are handled by our administrators not the teacher. This means the teacher is free to focus on teaching and not get bogged down by administration.

Driving all over town for a couple lessons, trying to remember who is months behind on tuition, trying to collect for missed lessons are all problems of the past.

YOUR TIME IS RESPECTED AND YOU ARE PAID IF STUDENTS NO-SHOW

In most cases teachers are paid for lessons whether students attend or not. You will get paid for no-shows and also for makeup lessons you teach when students call in advance to cancel. Students have to pay even when they cancel ahead of time so they are very motivated to squeeze into an opening on your schedule to get that makeup lesson. Many students will makeup multiple lessons with you in the summer as well.  This helps you to keep your income more steady through the summer months when other students are on vacation.

STUDENT CONCERTS

Twice a year we have student concerts that allow your students to show-off their stuff and feel the excitement of performing live in front of an audience.  Our concert director handles all the arrangements and communication with parents, shuffling performance times and dates around, arranging for the venues, sound and lights, etc so you just show up and enjoy participating in the show!

Students can even perform at our concerts in other states if they wish.

Direct Deposit

As an employee of 4/4 School of Music you don't have to worry about a large tax bill at the end of year. Your paycheck is deposited electronically into your account for immediate access. No more worrying about students paying on time or not at all.  Been there / done that... not fun.

Online scheduling system

With our online scheduling system, you'll know your entire schedule BEFORE you leave for the school each day. You'll also know how many students are scheduled to start with you in the future and if any have to take a break from lessons and why.

Our top part-time teachers made nearly $60,000 per year in 2019 - Not bad for a part-time job that you love!
— Tyler Tullock (Director)

Hourly wage is dependent on many factors including where and what you teach as well as experience and other factors. Our starting rates for new teachers are as follows:

  • Washington: $32-36 per hour (Legal notice: Washington State music teachers are currently paid between $32 and $41 per hour depending on experience outside and inside our school with the top pay going to teachers that have been with us for 19 years.)

  • Texas: $30-34 per hour (Depending on instrument(s) you teacher, experience, demand, etc)

  • Oregon: $30-34 per hour (Depending on instrument(s) you teacher, experience, demand, etc)

Paid Time Off / Sick Pay!

Earn paid time off with each hour you teach. (Almost one week per year based on the number of hours you teach weekly). Don’t worry if you need to take some days off due to an illness or if you want to take a vacation. Just request your paid time off be applied to your next paycheck!

Fantastic working conditions

A positive, relaxed, fun, creative, independent & professional atmosphere!

Schedule flexibility

You tell us when, where and how much you want to teach. We ask for a minimum of 10 students per week as your goal and that you are available a minimum of two days or evenings per week. The majority of our teachers have 20-65 students per week. But remember, you decide how many students you can teach comfortably!

Respect and appreciation

Excellent teachers don't grow on trees. We truly value and respect each of our instructors. Feel free to ask for references from other current instructors. They love it here!
